Granted, a smart phone doesn't replace a full sized computer yet, but it
is obvious the day is not far off. Computers are a mature technology,
with no new features introduced in a decade. Smart phones are still
rapidly evolving.

Don't get me wrong, I think small capable devices such as you are
describing have a place. I just don't think they will replace desktop
PCs. I think they will find a place along side the PC.

That is where I think you are wrong. I agree that the Smart Phones are
getting better, and at a fast pace, but the goalposts are moving. Unless
there is a massive change in processor technology (super conductors,
photonics etc) desktops will always be more powerful than palmtops.

The PC is a perfect example of Parkinsons Law... work expands to fill
the time (or in this case the hardware) available. As the PC gets more
powerful new applications/games/etc will come along that need that
power. The Palmtops will never catch up, they will only find their own
niche.
