Google Toolbat Installer Failure

Downloaded the Google Toolbar, saved to disk, attempted to install ...
and got this ....
<<Google Toolbar Installer is not a valid win.32 application>>
and the install is teminated.
Please, what do I do now?
AMD Athlon 64 3500 .. 512MB DDR ... nvidia 6600GT + 128MB ... Windows
XP Home + SP2
