Google prefs. help

Hello---just wanted to see if anyone here knows why I can go to preferences
on the Google search page to "100 results per page" & set it to "no
filtering", save it & return to my search, but the next time I am at my pc,
say the next time I reboot, the prefs. are right back to "10 results per
page" & "use moderate filtering". I've emailed Google about this the other
day, but I'm not holding my breath to hear back from them. I run a fairly
new Dell on Win XP, update regularly, have security set to "Med.-low" on IE,
& also have a set of restricted sites I've set to "high security" on IE, &
have IE privacy set to "med." Thanx for any info. on how to keep my Google
pref's.
(sorry if I cross-posted to one or more NG's where this is not discussed.)

Are you using the Google toolbar? Are you block cookies
from Google?

the google prefs are stored in a cookie on your machine. Do you have a
cookie blocker of some sort preventing that? reconfigure it so that google
can leave cookies.

Got Milk? You'll be needing it for the cookies!

You can block most cookies but allow the cookies you want,
just look at IE/Tools/Internet Options under privacy (look
in the extra tabs, too)

You might also want to check your firewall. Mine had to be set to accept
cookies and permit access by Google - ZoneAlarm.

Sorry I haven't replied earlier. I forgot which NG's I posted this question
to. Anyway, yeah, I figured it was stored in a cookie. I have no cookie
blocker(s), but I have my privacy set on medium (MS Win XP, & update
security patches/service packs regularly), & I run the XP's firewall. (I
don't know if a firewall blocks cookies). I run Spywareblaster, Spybot S&D,
& Adaware, & update those & run them frequently, & I know not to run those
programs concurrently. I also have downloaded a list of restricted sites to
merge to my "restricted sites" list in IE's "security" settings, & I have
noticed that there are 4 Google sites in there. If that makes a difference
or not, I don't know about that either. As crazy as it sounds, I 've tried
disabling all security & privacy (cookie) settings & going to Google's
pref's & saving the new pref's again, but that doesn't seem to work either.
Oh well. Thanx anyway for responding!
