Firewire will give you pretty much lossless video transfer between devices.
You can't do straight to MPEG with WMM, but you can use a third party app to
do it (I think you can use windows media encoder, but I haven't found an
mpeg/mpeg2/mpeg4 system codec that works with it yet).

well i want to work with MM - I don't care about mpeg. So the dazzle would
be bad i guess..?

I want to work with it too. I would strongly recommend using a standard
file format though. It will save you headaches later. I don't think you'll
find much with firewire for under 120, but it's generally the superior
solution.

i'm finding firewire cards at compusa for 49 bucks.
do those suck ??

thanks

I tend to say you get what you pay for, but I've seen decent firewire cards
from Dell for 75. You'll still need a video source though, like a camera.

what would i lose with a cheaper firewire card?

Also I found one that has usb2 +firewire
