Windows xp home edition came with my computer. I
puchased a windows xp professional upgrade and performed
the upgrade on it by mistake. Is there a way to go back
to my original home xp so I can install the professional
upgrade on my other computer that has windows me version
on it.

Thanks for any help
Larry

Unfortunately there is no uninstall option to revert back to XP Home as
there is if you upgrade Windows 98/Me. You will need to reformat and
reinstall XP Home. This will remove XP Pro from the system. You can then
install XP Pro onto your other system providing you have a qualifying
product to offer the XP Pro setup routine when it asks for one. Legally you
can not offer it your Windows XP Home CD as a qualifying product because it
is being used on another system. Therefore it does not qualify as you won't
be upgrading it. But if you have a version of Windows 98/Me/NT/or 2000 that
is not installed on any other system you can use it with your XP Pro Upgrade
disk to satisfy the request.

I'm afraid the only way is to clean off the disk and use the recovery
method that came with the machine. This will mean backing up data and
reinstalling programs. THe Files and settings transfer wizard may prove
useful; read Gary Woodruff's article at
