Hi -
Anyone know why text entered over a GIF might suddenly disappear? The page
looks great in preview but the text disappears on the WWW. I have been unable
to identify any html differences...

Jackie

Your question is quite vague. Also, post your URL so we can see what you're
trying to accomplish.

How are you applying the text to the GIF image?

Consider applying the text to the image in a image/graphic application instead.

you can't put text over a gif unless the text is within that image.

I think you can with that vml text tool thing, but then only IE people would see it - could be what Jackie is doing.

You mean on the left nav division bars. Yep, you used that Text Tool thingie. MUCH better to create the bars (images) with the words actually on them...in an image editor.

Not really sure what happened here. Viewed in IE & Netscrape they appear as you say...BUT...if I open the bad page with FP for editing the text does appear. Wierd...this is one for the gurus.

I'd still stick with the graphic solution rather than the text overlay thing.

hth.

| Hi again,
| The text used to display and when copying page elements to a new page, this
| text disappeared. Here are two URLs (one without and one that still has the
| text) in case that helps. When I originally designed the page(s) everything
| was FINE.
|
| www.ptwa.org - without
| www.ptwa.org/Conference.htm - with
|
| Also, I use IE (6).
|
| Thanks...

That too, but I'm fairly certain that the Text Tool uses VML as well.

Thanks for your help with this. I was able to incorporate the text as part of
the GIF and everything looks fine now. It also saves better - doesn't ask me
if I want to replace each individual navbar.
