Ghosted windows 2000 installation stops responding when booting

I have syspreped a windows 2000 installation and it works
fine on a lot of ACPI compatible machines. Now I installed
it on a notebook and when it boots for the first time it
stops responding when the "Windows 2000 installation..
Wait a minute" massage is displayed
The notebook is also ACPI compatible

Any suggestions?
