ghost Contacts lists

Hi there. In Outlook we have some ghost Contacts lists which show up when we
go to choose email recips.

History: over time we had created non-default Contacts folders in both PST
files and in Exchange 2003 stores and chose to make them show as Outlook
Address Books. We had a folder for Blackberry Contacts, one for the Palm
contacts, one for the original non-Palm contacts ,etc.

Now the computer user wants to centralize and put all Contacts into one
folder/Address Book. So now we want to get rid of all the extra "Address
Books" . But even though we have unchecked "show this folder as an e-mail
Address Book" in the properties dialog of each of the Contacts folders we can
find, extra ones still show up when the user goes to address an email message
and I recall these extra ones actually have some Contacts in them still. But
I cannot copy them because I cannot find them and likewise I cannot see the
name/address/phone number information because I cannot find them.

I wonder if maybe some other folders with default or common (to us) names
like "Contacts" and "Blackberry Contacts" were deleted without unchecking the
related boxes. There is no telling what these users have done without my
knowledge. And of course the user cannot stand to have extra Address Books if
there is nothing in them. Kinda anal but whatever.

Are these ghosts hidden in the registry or ??

Any help would be appreciated.

You can rid yourself of ghost contacts in two ways. First, in the Address
Book interface, you can click Tools>Options and remove them there. In
Outook's interface, you can click Tools>E-mail Accounts>View or change
existing directories or address books>Next, select the Outlook Address Book,
and click Change.
