Ghost CDR drive appears and kills computer every time I reboot.

Every 2 months or so my computer tosses out the D: drive CDR and ADDS this
fake new G: drive CDR, then the D: drive CDR comes back but no program will
run with EITHER drive (including the real one) any more. No CDR works again.
Friend helped fix before once, he fails to fix it now. He forgets how.
Control pannel does not help me. No options to remove drives there. I used
system panel to remove ALL CDR drives but I reboot and they are BOTH back,
the real one and the ghost/lier. Still NO programs work anymore again. I've
lost my ability to do my work... this is NOT GOOD. This whle coputer is
useless now until this is fixed permanently (again, and again).

Hi Reptoid,
Can you see the fake CD in device manager? Control Panel / System / Hardware
(tab) / Device Manager (button)?
Right click disable it.
Also, in device manage "View" menu - tick "Show hidden devices" / Expand
Non-Plug and Play Drivers - look for yellow question marks there. Right
click / Disable any suspect ones.

Stop using those paper phone message pads
make the computer work for you.

Your help I've already been through many times, but thanks anyway. I've been
doing this as I said and there are TWO dead CDR items there, D and G, both do
not work because one is real "D" and the other is nonexistant "G". Disabling
and rebooting or any other act is useless. Ever since "G" appeared "D" no
longer works at all. Nothing works. No new hardware was installed ANYWHERE.
All my audio projects are dead until this is fixed like last time, however
he fixed this software glitch that XP always does all by itself for no
reason. I want a patch for this problem. No matter who fixes this it always
comes back eventually. I was warned about XP doing stuff like this without
permission or reason... now I believe it. It's nver an easy fix or remotely
obvious or easy to fix on one's own. A real time waster.
