GFX Card

Hi all,

I am looking at getting a new gfx card for my comp, I have been recommended this card http://www.ebuyer.com/product/151335 I know that its ATI but its a very fast card. Views and ideas welcome.

Personally though i would get this;

Its still on the today only for £201 so phone em and tell them, you will get it for that, my mate did.

Also if its a 4870 you want get a 1GB version it will last you longer.

Is there much difference in the two cards? I know that the ATI one is a bit faster but, I have had problems in the past with drivers and failling cards.

Hey,

The ATI drivers are mature now so you won't have any problems.

Take your pick of which resolution you game at, the 260 card spanks it, in the synthetic benchmarks they are about even but real world in game benchmarks the 260 beats it everytime.

I doubt anyone could tell which card was which in a system playing a game but its about 15% faster overall for nearly the same price, plus it has more memory which will do well for the future, 512Mb is really the minimum required now for top end games.

Also it will beat a stock 280 for alot cheaper, i am seriously gonna get one of these.

If you get a 4870 get one that has an aftermarket cooler and 1GB.

I would still get the 260 though. Read some more reviews on it, cool, quiet and really f-ing fast.

Heres another review,

Toxic 4870 vs an old 260 and stock 280, both beat it, but when you turn up the shiny AA the gap gets a bit larger.
