getting updates offline

I am planning on reinstalling Windows XP Professional on my
computer. I only have dialup, so I am thinking of
downloading all the updates from a computer with faster
access (not on the same location as this one, so not on the
same network) and then installing them.

How do I grab all the updates I need when I don't have
access to Windows update? The only option seems to be to do
a scan with Windows update, save the update names to a
file, and then hunt down all the updates from the other
computer.

Also, in which order should the updates be done?

When you are downloading updates from MS updates, do not
allow a restart at the end of the download. In fact, do
not even click anything. Once it is done, open up C drive,
go to Documents and settings, The profile you are using,
local, and enter temporary Internet files. Sort the folder
by date and locate the grouping from windows update.com
site. The majority are EXEs, few are CABs. Copy and paste
these updates to a folder on the desktop and proceed with
your updating. Never restart unless you start getting
Unable to install updates, some updates require previous
updates to install, thus requiring a restart to refresh
the registry. Follow thsi and then burn to CD. Enjoy!

If you want to download updates for later installs, you can use Windows Update
Catalog...

HOW TO: Download Windows Updates and Drivers from the Windows Update Catalog

Service Pack, boot, Security Rollup package, boot, then the rest, boot.
