Getting thrown off

On my Windows XP Home version ,everytime I go to a site using the
www.xxxx.com address, it allows me to see the site for about 4-5 seconds and
then throws me off. The computer does not shut down but I have to log back on
to the net. However, if I use a search engine without the www. and .com, e.g.
Google or Yahoo search, and link to the www. address that way, everything
works fine. I've tried to reset to a point before it happened to no avail.
Any suggestions?
