Getting "Network Connection Unplugged"

Hey all --

I recently installed Win XP Pro on my old box -- very
happy about the upgrade overall! I'm using the same
cable modem/NIC I used before and never had any
problems. It's a direct connection from the wall to the
modem to the computer.

But every 5-15 minutes or so, a little pop up appears
telling me that my "Network Connection Unplugged".
Usually in less than 10 seconds it reestablishes contact -
- basically it's just long enough for to lose whatever
I'm trying to do

It seems to be random -- but I'm not really sure. All I
know is that it is extremely annoying. Suggestions?

What operating system were you running before? It could
be that the drivers need updating for your NIC/modem to
be fully compatible with XP -( unless the cable has
become loose or damaged in some way)

I was running 98 SE... How would I go about updating the
drivers in XP?
