Hi
My network card does not get an ip address from a dhcp server (a router),
all the other computer can get one. Windows was full of things that was
downloded from the internet like gator, etc ...

the network properties just display the automatic ip address 169.254.x.x

any help please

Add an IP address manually onto the network card's TCP/IP setting and
reboot. Then, remove the IP address and reboot. DHCP should be detected
again.

I would also check to make sure you're not over your IP limit. I had the
same behaviour when we ran out of IPs on our local network; once I purchased
additional IP addresses, the machines could then poll the router for an IP
address.
