That's a message from the SMART technology on the drive, I beleive.
First make sure you have a complete backup now. Second download a drive
diagnostic utility from the hard drive manufacturer's web site. This
will create a bootable floppy; run the tests from there.
Time to start shopping for a new hard drive. Just in case S.M.A.R.T. is
accurate.
