Getting a common folders view

Is there a way to set all folder's views to, say, 'details'
all at once ?

Make your settings for one folder, then go to Tools > Folder Options >
View and press the "Apply to all Folders" button.
 
It doesn't need to say anything--the apply to all folders applies your
*current* view to all folders.
Set your view the way you wish it to appear--then apply that view to all
folders.
