Getting a command prompt

How do I get a command prompt in Win2k?

I tried to copy the command.pif from Win98 but it only pops up a dos
box that vanishes as soon as it is created. Same if I do START-> RUN
-> and type "Command.com".

Thanks

Use cmd.exe. Command.com is a Win98 legacy command processor.

Start > Run > Command.com should work. If it doesn't, see if you have
command.com in your (windows root)\system32 directory.

You can also get there using Start > Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt

These two are not the same. Command.com is the 16-bit command
processor, it runs inside the NT Virtual DOS Machine, you should only
use this while you are running 16-bit applications. The native 32-bit
Command Line Processor for Windows NT/2000/XP is Cmd.exe, this is the
CLI that will be launched if you go use the Start > Programs >
Accessories > Command Prompt shortcut, or just enter cmd in the Start
Menu Run box.
