Get the "End now" message at shut down.

More often than not, now when I do a "shut down" I get the small window with
the "End Now" message that I have to click on or else wait for it to time
out then it shuts down. What is causing this?

Probably a program slow at releasing the Registry
on shutdown.
You might be able to pin it down @
Rt/click My Computer/Manage/ Event Viewer/
Applications
If you are really concerned about it.

I checked what you suggested and found there are two entries everytime I
shut down that are listed as "warning."

Dbl/click on each of the warnings, and see what they tell you.

As I said there are two "Warnings" shown every time I turn off the computer.
In double clicking the first warning this message shows:

"Windows saved user Desktop\Mel registry while an application or service was
still using the registry during log off. The memory used by the user's
registry has not been freed, The registry will be unloaded when it is no
longer in use.



This is often caused by services running as a user account, try configuring
the services to run in either the LocalService or NetworkService account."





In double clicking the second warning this message shows:

"Windows cannot unload your classes registry file-it is still in use by
other applications or services. The file will be unloaded when it is no
longer in use."
