get rid of extra Favorites folder

B

Bill Vivant

My single User account has gained an extra Favorites
folder as a result of my attempts to backup Favorites.
The extra folder has only Desktop.ini in it, and I'd
like to get rid of it because IE keeps choosing it for
its Favorites, although it is essentially empty.

I have tried deleting it while in the Administrator
account, but when I log back in as User, the
empty Favorites folder has reappeared.

How can I delete the empty Favorites folder so that
I can use the populated Favorites folder again?

Hi Bill,

Have you tried copying your Favorites links to the Favorites folder you are
attempting to delete? Try that and see if it is populated with the links.
If so, try deleting the other favorites folder.

Ta DA!! That worked! Why the original Favorites
folder could be deleted and the copy not deleted
(something about being necessary for Windows to
function) is not clear to me, but it worked. Thanks,
Ken!
