Get notification of mail received but doesn't go in inbox.

When I start Windows Mail, I receive all the mail queued but if it is running,
when I receive a new email, I get the notification and tone but the email
does not go into the inbox and is lost. Any ideas?

Send and Receive at start up is no more than a PITA!

Disable it, via tools>options>General tab.

Check you settings at view>current view>ensure that "show all messages" is
the default.
