Get External data

Excel 2k, updated
As soon as I select 'Get External Data' Excel, hangs - not responding msg -
I've repaired, could'nt locate anything on MS kb.
Any thoughts/clues?
 
Also reinstalled, deinstalled then reinstalled, stopped AV app, stopped any
running apps. Cleared temp files, deleted Excel reg.key and created new
This runs fine on my other sys, one Win2k the other Winxp
