Genuine Advantage - I Think Not!

Ever since I was forced to install Windows Genuine Advantage the other
day, in order to download a program from Microsoft my Gateway Notebook
takes forever to start. It sits at the splash screen with the little
bar flashing from left to right for what seems a very long time then
proceeds to load Windows XP.

Is ths WGA at work or possibly something else taking over?
Thanks

I haven't noticed any added activity when XP is loading.

The term "Genuine Advantage" is a bit misleading since 100% of the advantage is
to Microsoft with 0% left for the comsumer.

How many times does it go across the screen when loading?
