Generic/Text Only Printer Question

I have configured a generic/text only printer to be able
to print text to a file. I can select to print something
to it and I am prompted to specify a file name with the
extension of .prn. Is there any way to specify the file
name (printer setting/parameter??) so I am not prompted
for it? I want to send a print job to it and have the
file created without having to manually give it a name.

Thanks for any help.

Yes. This is possible for any printer driver.

Select the printer from Printers and Faxes. Choose Set Printer Properties
from left window. Ports Add port. Enter something like
c:\Printer_Files\output.prn . Adapt as you see fit.

Now, change the port the printer uses to that you just created and the
output of the printer driver will be created in the file output.prn in
directory Printer_Files on drive C. Of course, If you then "print" another
document, the file created for it will overwrite the file previously
created.

Hope that is what you need.
