Recently Ive been crashing online..everytime. Im no expert, but still try to
be resourcefull & when I get the erro msg, my sys automatically reboots
shortly after giving me about 60 secs to save my stuff. Ive looked at the MS
error report & followed the links to the download site & updated the fix for
XP SP2 -WindowsXP-KB894391-x86-ENU, but Im still having the crashes. I stay
online for 10mins or more..sometimes even an hr before it crashes. Any advice?

Possibly a virus...

If you keep getting the "Shutdown in 60 seconds" dialog, click Start / Run, and execute command 'shutdown -a' this will stop the shutdown process.

A virus called different names by different AV vendors could be the culprit.

ALIAS:MSBlast, Poza, Blaster, W32/Msblast, Lovesun

Thanks for your suggestion. I followed the link you provided & got some
usefull info, which seemed to have resolved the problem (its been almost 24
hrs now & I havent had a single online crash). It didnt appear I had lovesun,
as when I did all the tasks including running the download for lovesun
detection & disinfection, I got msg that the virus was not detected. I think
what solved the problem was a few additional tasks I did along the way, based
on the information provided

1) I disabled the 60 sec shutdown as you suggested.

2) I followed instruction to disable XP auto restore, before peforming any
of the tasks.

3) ALthough the lovesun file didnt detect that virus, I also downloaded &
ran this MS XP patch which was part of the procedure:
WindowsXP-KB824146-x86-ENU

4) I downloaded & ran the Aug2006 version of MS Malicious software cleaner
which I found while researching Blaster & its variants, it detected and
cleaned a virus called ":win32/Korgo.A.worm.dam#2"

Windows-KB890830-V1.19

Thanks for your help!
