General RIS questions

Is there a source on the web with examples for the ristndrd.sif parameters?
I would like to address the machine naming by either prompting for a name
during the build, or how to setup a UDF file. Examples I have found to this
point seem to be specific and do not show optional parameters. This is for
Win2kPro and WinXP Pro RIS builds.

Has anyone changed the RIS server share to hidden, and what issues are
involed besides the paths inside the sif files?
Jim.

I just found the unattend.doc in the deploy.cab file on the server cd under
support\tools.. I guess if I leave the ComputerName parameter blank it
should prompt for a name, or a * will create a random name based on the org
name.

Jim,

For RIS, the computer name comes from one of two places - the RIS server
setting, which provides a default naming convention if none is given during
the initial blue screen setup, or the name entered during a custom install.
To get the custom install you'll need to make sure group policy allows it.

I like to change the RIS screens and show the user how to input each value
during the custom install, especially the part about the computer name and
the location. You'll want to edit the custom screens for this (Custom.osc
and Login.osc):
