General Protection Fault

Every time I boot up, I get the following error message in a Windows Error
box:
"General Protection Fault Please Delete File" . Zone Alarm will not launch
until I close the error message box.

I am also receiving "bounced" email messages from various ISP( even though
I'm not sending any of these messages out). When attempting to delete these
" bounced" messages , they automatically open in a " Save Attachment As "
dialog box .
I am using Windows Me and when running AVG 6.0 nothing is identified.

What kind of Virus is this and how can I eliminate from my computer???

I saw this on a client's machine this morning. It appears to be some
sort of trojan. The client in question said that he may have gotten
it as a .scr file that was posted in a usenet group. Knowing this
client... it was probably a usenet group that was pornographic in
nature.

Use Regedit to look at the contents of
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

if you have a key named "taskmon driver", with a value of Taskmon.exe,
then you've probably got what I saw this morning.

To get rid of it:
Use the (real) task manager (hit CTRL-SHIFT-ESCAPE) to end the process
Taskmon.exe (not taskman.exe :) ).

Then, use regedit to delete the registry key I mentioned above
(highlite "taskmon driver" and hit DEL).

Then delete the file Taskmon.exe. It might be in c:\windows\system32
