General protection fault in wowexec

When I try to load an older program I receive an error
message: "OWEXEC caused a general protection fault in the
module MMSystem,dll at 000A:0032". I tried to change it
so it could be read by Windows 95 or 98 but it still will
not load. Any suggestions?
 
Did you check with the software mfr. to see if their software will run on
Windows XP?
