Geforce fx 5200 black screen upon windows load

I've tried two different video cards since upgrading to XP.
Both are nvida based cards . I have an Athlon 650mhz .
Gigabyte 7ix motherboard with AMD 751 chipset. Have flashed tyhe
bios....updated tons of drivers. THe geforce 2 pro video card I had on win
98se worked fine till I upgraded to xp . Now I've bought a geforce fx 5200
and still.....when windows starts to load my screen goes completely black.
The only way to run the computer is to go in in safe mode and disable the
card ....Any Ideas ?

Reinstall or upgrade the motherboard drivers. Jym

Try to get in safe mode uninstall the video card driver completely
then get back to normal mode install the most update chipset driver, directx 9 , and nvidia driver

Have tried but still getting the black screens. Not sure If I did
it all correctly . My monitor isn't being recognized...Could this be the
problem?

my hardwae wizard is installing things without giving me the
pop up window to interact with ????
