garbled text

The outlook express ,log on and log off ,print a test pagein printer section.
Printer works fine when printing from a program...the garbled textseems to
be in the xp program.

Thanks for the reply.....the problem occured when setting up a new computer
and printing a test page which was garbled text but graphics were ok. when
shuting down the computer the shutdown , restart text was scrambled. going
into outlook express all the text was garbled. using the internet some text
was garbled but others ok. Believe the problem occured when installing a HP
photosmart printer.

This points to a problem with the printer driver. Try this, in this order:
- Uninstall, then re-install the printer driver.
- Download the latest driver from the HP site.
- Talk to the HP helpdesk.
