i have win xp 3.0 ghz with 512 mb ram.....i've tried three games and not one
can i get to play......it will install some games but wont allow me to play
or half install then return me to the start menu, other times while
installing it will just stop and i will have to switch off and
restart.....any body help? games:- men of valor, rome total war, etc...

What graphics card is in your machine? Check out
http://windows.dasmirnov.net/guides/hardware.php if you're not sure.

Instalation troubles can be caused by many things, virus scanners can
interfere, spyware or other malware could too. Or damaged media or
CD-drive. Couple of things to try first of all:

Give your system a scan over with free tools like Spybot Search & Destroy
(http://www.spybot.info/en/index.html)) and also Adaware
(http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/), both offer free tools to
remove any nasties.

While installing shut down your anti-virus software, you may have to
actually go into options and disable it, usually just exiting the icon on
the system tray won't stop the actually scanner from working.
