Mate, just to know that the ATI is biger crap then any nVidia force, model.
Get more money, and buy a nVidia 7600GT, its not expensive, and the resultat
of aspect
price and quality is best of best.

I disagree. This isn't 2001.

I dont get the point whit this "this isn't 2001"!?

You are probable ATI Fan? :)
Simple for games top, best of the best is nVidia!
ATI have "some" models that can compare whit nVidia, others.. bu***hit. I
mean ATi is good for some office work or, film, music... games NO WAY!

When both have working drivers there's no difference.

Perhaps you could sort my laptop out then it has the following issues
related directly to the GeForce driver.

1) Won't wake screen up from sleep.
2) Aero Glass turns flickers on and off too often (in previous drivers this
was fine).
3) Running in Basic mode (after Aero goes off) the display driver crashes
when scrolling down or up (in previous drivers this would just result in
some minor display corruption now the driver falls over).
4) Resume time from hybrid sleep is 4-5 seconds (4 times longer than it
should be).
5) Video playback performance is absolutely dire.

My three machines with ATI cards have no issues, and yes, I play games. I
can't play games on that laptop anymore.

Not usually a problem. But, you need to make sure you download the latest
drivers from http://ati.amd.com and get the latest patch for your game.

What games are they? Do they all have issues?

And to the guy that said ATI sucks and NVIDIA is much better: Not with
Vista. The NVIDIA drivers are not good at all right now. And with both
running side by side, good luck finding the differences. They are neck in
neck on visual quality. Performance is almost even (with the exception of
the 8800GTX, with it's DX10 capabilities... But, where's the games?!).

The opposite is true for my Pauly boy.

despite what dustin says...If you are considering a DX9 video card to run on
your rig for a good price go for nvidia 7900 series. You will get the best
bang for your buck and nvidia will have much better life span than ati. The
difference between the two wont be apparant to most users. If you have a buck
or 2 to invest I would still run a DX 10 card like the 8800 gts or gtx. The
diffenece is bountiful and you will be set with vista and many more games to
come! Dustin you should try Supreme Commander. First RTS that uses DX10 fully
and multithread! you will love it.

Don't know what crack you're smoking. ATI has been running side by side with
nvidia since the reelase of the 9700\9800 cards, prior to that, say around
2001, ATI was crap.

Don't call me a fan boy either. Though my budget is tighther than what it
use to be, I use to have two system, one was nvidia system and one was an
ATI. My last buy was a X1900XTX and I'll run it against, any DX9 card you
have out there. If you want a DX10 card, then sure, I'd suggest the 8800
series. I'm waiting to see hat ATI releases with the DX10 card in the X2800
series. If it's doesn't beat the 8800 (or by then the 8900) then I'll be
grabbing the nVidia card.

This is a support forum, so please skip the silly fanboyism and stick with
helping people get their games working

But a trip to the SupCom tech Support forms might scare most people away.

Though I'll have to wait a little longer to see SupCom in full DX10 effect,
I'm not sure how it's going to look much better. I ,at least, spend most of
my time zoomd out to the point, where the game could be a DX8 and I wouldn't
know better. Other than the start of a mission or game, there's too much
going on to stay in close to enjoy the visuals..but we are digressing from
helping this poor lad getting his games going

Too true my friend...As for the graphics cards, I would suggest either nvidia
7950 gtx or a ati x1900 on the lower end. If you have the bucks the 8800gtx
is a fantastic card. Prices are coming down fast. If you do buy nvidia go for
BFG or EVGA built cards. they are well built and BFG has a 2 time
transferable full lifetime warrenty. Thats music to my ears!

I have the ATi x1900GT which at the time it was bought was second to top of
the line only beaten by the XT model.

Anyway, I have not encountered any problems with the ATi card and Vista as
far as my games are concerned.

Perhaps if you would clarify what kind of problems you are having someone
can help you.
