Games Folder Error

When trying to open a standard installed game, ie solitaire, chess, mahjong,
I get the error message "file does not have a program associated with
it....." Under Turn Windows features on and off" I uninstalled/reinstalled
and still same error message. Under Default Programs, I don't get the
options for the games. I can run the games from 'All Programs" and create
shortcuts to the desktop and they work, however, some of my family members
have trouble doing it this way. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Steve - great suggestion. You will need to edit the registry. If you are
not running an upgraded version of Vista, under start search, type in
regedit, and go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\lnkfile. Click on Edit, New, String
Value and name it IsShortcut. Name should have a red ab in front and type is
REG_SZ.

If it's an upgrade version, it's difficult to tell the folder location.
Click on Edit, Find, and type in NeverShowExt and that's where the IsShortcut
entry should be created.

After editing, reboot, and the shortcut arrows should be back and the links
in the Games folder should work.
