ok i have seen quite a few posts about vista games such as solitaire or
minesweeper being missing or not being able to start and there seems to be
fixes for those i however have an odd problem that i cant seem to get
resolved. i have the games i can open the games however when i do open the
games i get no picture/video if i open solitaire for instance the window pops
up and i can then move cards (i know this because i can get a score going and
the time goes) but i can not see the cards/ board same think with inkball
slightly different but equally
irritating is chess it just comes to the loading chess titans screen and sits
there indefinately please assist i am running vista home premium 32 bit thank
you in advance

Someone else may have specific knowledge of this. From a general standpoint,
it sounds like it may be a display driver issue, can you post what your
display board and driver version is?

According to Intels download site, that is the latest driver. There is a
known bug relating to using 1680x1050 display (and probably higher), if you
are using it, try switching to a lower res.

I'm not sure if the software driver allows it but you can experiment with
Windows display troubleshooting. if you right-click on the desktop, select
"personalize" and the "Display Settings". There is a button labeled
"Advanced settings" and inside of that is a tab labeled "troubleshoot" there
are some pieces of the display abilities you can turn on and off.

Not much help but perhaps it will offer a clue.

Dragonomega,

So check it, your system is freaking out with graphics, that should be a
graphic driver issue. So tell us about your system. Is it a brand new
system? Is it a custom built system? Did you upgrade to Vista or is this
a fresh installation?

What hardware do you have, video card, sound card, mobo if you know it,
or if this is a name brand just put down the model number and site any
hardware upgrades.

I would reinstall video drivers, also go to microsoft.com/directx and
find the latest DirectX installer (follow the gamers link), it's called
dxwebsetup.exe. That'll just make sure your DirectX library is up to
date.

Post your system specs, maybe we can figure out what it could be. Might
also try the "Reliability and Performance Monitor" in Vista. Under
Reliability you should have a log of all your applications that have
failed or Vista crashes. Could help you figure out what's going on.
