Games Explorer

When a game is installed, the system checks a database and if it recognizes
the game, it points to a existing piece of art on Microsofts server (such
as:
http://images.metaservices.microsoft.com:80/games/prod/AMG_CoverArt/drg100/g146/g14664odhuq.jpg )

I assume you are asking how to get a game to have the right art when it
doesn't do it automatically. At the moment, I have not heard of anyone who
manually updated a game in the Explorer to have art (I tried but even in
Regedit I was unable to make it work). The Games Explorer (GE) is a lot more
complicated than a simple folder or menu. About the only thing you can do
until someone comes up with a utility program is to drag and drop the game
icon into GE and use the default icons.

Unfortunately that is simply the icon for the object, not the graphic shown
in the GE. (ico file rather than a jpg)

In the registry: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\GameUX has a
"BoxArt" entry for each installed game, however on self-registered games
(i.e. dragged and dropped onto the GE) the entry doesn't seem to work even
if manually added. The only real difference is the "ConfigInstallType"
entry, (3 for recognized games, 4 for self-registered games, so I suspect it
has something to do with that (and changing it manually doesn't work
either).

With luck someone will create a game-register program that will allow us to
add in the ones not automatically recognized.
