full text search in help and support does not work

xp sp2.

i can put in any common word and it comes back with nothing. the help
areas are there and i can open them, but search fails. same issue on
ie 6.

i tried a few things i found on the web, re-registering some related
files. no help.

suggestions?

It might just be that what YOU think is "any common word" isn't
"common" to WinXP.

i put in printer, explorer....

for ie i put in internet.

on other machines these searches worked.
