full screen app/game failure

I was hoping someone could help me get Sp2 workin on my machine. Seems that
even on a clean install as soon as i intall SP2 any type of full screen
game/app that takes over the screen causes my computer to reboot even before
the app becomes visible,
amd 3000xp cpu 400mhz fsb,
asus mobo,
2 256mb ram chips pc3200 i believe(been awhile),
soundblaster live 5.1 card,
Msi gf4 ti4200 vid card.
i never got a message from windows driver protection but i do know that wehn
i install sp2 and run a game it reboots the system before game does anything,
uninstall sp2 and it works. ideas, thoughts?

You video driver probably needs upgrading for sp2.

I would try Compatibility mode for win2k

um, tried that, tried old drivers, new driver, most current drivers.
even ones from nvidia site that says for windowsxp sp2,
tried changing out the vid card, still system crashes, only when sp2 is
installed.
compabitlty modes did nothing to help.

Some games are just going to have to upgrade to the higher security standards of SP2 and beyond.

Hm, was there a big difference between sp2 beta and sp2 itself,
i was running sp2 beta and i think i had sp2 on a 1ghz system, same vid card
just older mobo for a short time and games like halo, HL, and other games
even screen saves can give me problems on this 3ghz machine if i put on sp2
but the 1ghz gave no probs, same vid card till i upgraded stuff.
