FTP - What files to transfer to server?

T

The Bagmnan

Can anyone tell me what folders should be installed from my remote site to
the server using FTP.

I note folders such a _overlay, _derived, _private, _themes, borders,
fpclass, images etc. on the remote site. but not sure which ones should be
transferred to the FTP server.

I also have image files (gif or jpg) - should they be in the image folder or
transferred as a file.

Thanks for any reply.

The folders commencing with the underscore (_overlay, _derived, _private
etc) are to do with the FP server extensions; if you're using FTP you won't
be able to use the FP freatures that require them, and you don't need those
folders. However, some features do work without the FPSE such as shared
borders so you do need to upload _borders folder, and for themes, (I think)
you need the _themes folder.

As for images, you can transfer individual files, or folders containing the
files. It's up to you, but for the sake of simplicity, having images in an
"images" folder is the best, but images can be stored in any folder within
your FP web.

However if you plan to use any features that require the server extensions,
such as the forms to send email then you need to publish by HTTP mode in
Frontpage.

Incorrect
The _derived, _themes, & _borders are required if the user has applied Shared borders or a theme
(and do not require the FP SE)
