ftp view hidden directories

I publish through ftp in frontpage... but never say to publish the whole site
because it always wipes out my bulletin board... it works just fine
publishing page by page.

My nav toolbar works fine, but each time I add a page to my site, the button
for that page has an X on it on the website. From what I understand, this is
because I have hidden directories with files that I need to publish.

Can anyone tell me how to view these directories so I can right click and
publish the files? Thanks!

When using FrontPage navigation buttons the buttons are stored in the
_derived folder. The _derived folder is ALWAYS hidden in FrontPage,
and can only be published by publishing the entire web.

Since you use FTP, you could use a third party FTP client to publish
the _derived folders, instead of FrontPage - then the full publish is
not necessary.

Your bulletin board should be placed in a subweb to stop the live
version being "clobbered" when publishing - choose to NOT publish
subwebs when publishing the root web. Note that links to the bulletin
board in navigation view will have to be changed to links to external
or existing pages (depending on the FrontPage version).

I have ftp'd the _derived folder, and after fiddling with a few other hidden
directories, it worked, thank you! BUT... (did you see that one coming?) I
then changed my shared border to the right, and my latest page, rainbow
bridge, has the X on the link bar. If you click it, you go to the page and
the button shows up! www.strongpets.com (see the x on the rainbow bridge on
the right, then click on it and you will see the button magically appear...)

Any ideas? Is there another hidden (or not) directory I need to ftp over?
Thank you so much!

The file _derived/rainbow_bridge.htm_cmp_ice000_vbtn.gif has not been
uploaded to the server. There are no other hidden folders to be
uploaded for this to function.
