Frustrated with Briefcase

Hi. Using Outlook XP with WinXPpro. Got a LAN set up at home. What I want to
be able to do is have outlook on my main PC and have it synchronised onto my
Laptop so that if I take my laptop away with me, everything is up to date.
I've checked out the idea of using the Briefcase, but it's not working for
me. Following the instructions, I did the following...
1. Exported all folders to a .pst file on my main pc within my Shared
Documents folder.
2. Closed Outlook
3. Created a briefcase on my laptop (even called "Outlook Share" as
suggested!)
4. Dragged the outlook.pst file from the shared folder on my main pc into
the briefcase on my laptop
5. Opened up Outlook on my laptop & followed...File>Open>Outlook Data File &
"pointed" to the outlook.pst file in the briefcase.
6. Closed Outlook & clicked on synchronise all within the briefcase
7. Re opened outlook on the laptop, but the emails, etc that show are from a
previous "incarnation", not the updated ones.

I've got so frustrated with this after several attempts, that I've just
imported the outlook.pst file.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong, or am i just missing a step??
Regards & Happy CHRISTmas

You're not the only one. I've asked this question before and have not
received a satisfactory answer. There is a shareware program out there
called SynchPST but I had limited results with it. But, if it worked, it
would solve your problem.

What I do is simply copy my .PST file from my desktop to my laptop and then
back again when I'm done. Not an elegant solution, but it seems to work
pretty well. I use a freeware product called Karens Replicator and once you
set it up you just push a button and it copies it for you.

MS never intened Outlook to be used on multiple machines, but I think if
someone came up with a simple Outlook clone that did this synch for you it'd
sell like hotcakes.
