Frozen Web site pages

On occasion I will have several web pages open in my browser IE6 (up to
date) and one web page will refuse to function or close. Cursor moves fine
and can access the close button, scroll bar, etc., but does not do anything.
The page seems frozen, cannot scroll up or down or click a link within it.
The only way out is to Ctrl-Alt-Del. This results in closing my Browser and
obviously all of the other web pages that are open.

I have every anti-Trojan, anti malware-spyware app under the sun, check for
updates daily, and run both a firewall and an AV program. W98 second
edition. IE6 SP-1 all updated to date.

Why and what can be done about this? Thanks.

That's not it at all Stefano. I have 1024 MB Sdram with a 2.0 GHz P4
processor. How much larger than 1024 MB do I need??? :-\

Thanks anyway.

Hello Mike,

I wasn't sure about the first portion of the causes (default value pointing
to the wrong location). The keys are all present, but the value setting
isn't something I could understand. How does one tell if it is pointing to
an incorrect location?

The fourth registry key was present, but I am unable to determine if it's
"damaged".
In running regsvr32, I was successful in all 6 of the commands that were to
be executed for W98 systems.

After that I looked for the remaining registry keys, located them, and they
all comply with the stated requirements. As yet I've not tested the results,
as it is something of an effort to find 8 + pages of extreme interest, and
then proceed to link through them in the myriad combinations that usually
cause the failure I described.

I'd like to say that as soon as I saw this link you offered, an air of
familiarity prevailed; I've done this process before. Aside from the keys
and to what they are pointing which I could not determine, this failure had
occurred even after this "fix" in earlier attempts dating back a few months
ago.

Thanks again -
