Frontpage Problem

S

S Thomas

I've created a page in the normal view which doesn't
display correctly in preview. The images and hover buttons
show up as grey boxes with red crosses in the corner. not
sure what the problem is.

Do you actually have a web open or just a page? (must have a web open before
creating the page).

Did you first File | Import your images from your hard drive location into
your images folder before inserting on the page and saving?

Hi Tom - thanks for your message. I'm creating the pages
in Frontpage and link the hover buttons as well as banner
ads to jpegs stored in my web page folder. When I switch
from normal view to preview the hover buttons and banner
ad comes up with grey box and red cross in the corner.
Any ideas?

Tom - I didn't import my images as the method I normally
use of insert hyperlink normally works. With regards to
the banner ad, I follow the instructions given when
creating a banner ad and list the jpegs I want to use in
the box provided.

Do you have a Java Virtual Machine (JVM) installed? Grey boxes suggest
that you don't. Since all new installations of Windows XP and/or IE6 do
not have a JVM by default (it must be downloaded from www.java.com) it is
advisable to not use Java components (Banner Add Manager, Hover Buttons)
but to use JavaScript equivalents instead.

You may have to Preview in Browser to see Java Applets, rather than use
Preview in FP.

Did you in fact have a FP web open, not just a page?

Did you file | import the images into your web before inserting on a page
and saving?

Do you have a Java Virtual Machine installed? Required to view Java
Applications, and is no longer supplied with WinXP or IE 6. Every visitor
must have one installed.

Did you try Preview in Browser instead of just Preview?

Hi Tom,

I don't think I have a Java Virtual Machine installed. Can
I download this for free from somewhere?
I tried preview in browser but it still brings up the grey
boxes with red cross.

Even if you download it, will visitors to your web site also take the time to download it?
