I have a Windows 2003 server running with Frontpage 2002 extensions. When I
login via IE)http://app01:81, it loads very slowly. All pages open and save
slowly. If I map a drive to the server, and then open the web site via the
mapped drive, the response time is great. Why would the performance be
different with these two methods?

Try using the website's IP address or http://app01 and having the site on the default port 80.

I tried using the IP Address. No luck. I have another site on port 80 so I
cannot use that port.

You can use host headers or you can add another IP address to the server, if an intranet, etc.
