Frontpage 2003 vs. Dreamweaver

C

Carol

This probably isn't the place to ask this question, but I
would like to know which of the two is the best program.
I have been using Frontpage 2002 and am finding
Dreamweaver apparently offers quite a bit more. If I
upgrade to 2003 is that still going to be the case or
would I be better off spending my time on dreamweaver.
Thanks for your comments.

2003 is much closer to dw but still easier to use and does a better
management job especially on multiple webs.

the real key to either is to learn how to do what you want and then execute
it in code view. then you're at the mercy of neither.
IMHO

Dreamweaver all the way!!!
Our company standard is FrontPage, but I am allowed to use Dreamweaver
because I design and develop web-based training that requires a lot of
customization. FrontPage is fine if you don't mind the program dictating
what you do and often "taking over" when you want to make changes.
Dreamweaver is a high-end tool that lets you do what you want and stays out
of your way. My co-worker in the next office pulls out her hair with
FrontPage. She did a site using themes and is now locked in to a great
extent. But in all fairness, FrontPage is okay if making a website is a
secondary responsibility and you don't care too much about having control.
Also, as a side note, to people who are experienced, websites created with
FrontPage templates and themes scream "Amateur!" when we see them on the
web. If you are going to use FrontPage to create an external website, be
careful of using the themes if you want people to see it as professional.

They are both tools and depend on the skill of the user, but what you say about FP was true w/ FP98, and maybe even w/ FP 2000/2002
In FP, if you use the older design time tools (shared borders / themes etc) they can get in your way, but you are not limited to
them at all
FP2003 has gone a long way in giving you the freedom to avoid using any of the legacy tools and has added DWT, Behaviors, Code
Snippets and the ability to really manage your code (even strip all FP design time tool code)

PS
I have seen some pretty bad nonfunctional DW created Sites too

If the word processor wrote the novel while she was sleeping it should, if not it should only get part of the royalties.
