Front Page Installation.

Background: I need to set up a website for my wifes artwork. I know very
little about website design, but the Front Page software was recommended to
me as a way of doing it with relative ease. (I believe the full title for
the Front Page is "FrontPage 2002 Server Extensions.")

A General Question: I'm told the Front Page (2002 Server Extensions) comes
free with XP. You only have to install it. Is this correct? I see it's
also for sale. Do you get a better and/or later version if you purchase it?
I want to start out with the best program available since I'm not much of a
computer whiz.

Particular Problem. I tried to install (the XP version of) Front Page
following the instructions provided in "help and support". The instructions
are clear enough. The problem is that when I go to the Windows Components
Wizard the "Internet Information Services" item isn't there.

Another minor point. Although the "help and support" index item refers to
Front Page 2002, the installation instruction refers to Front Page 2000.

Advice and suggestions requested. Should I just buy the latest version?
What is the latest version?

Microsoft Front Page does not come free with XP. The current version is
Front Page 2003, which you can read about here:
http://www.microsoft.com/office/frontpage/prodinfo/default.mspx.

Front Page is sold at all of the popular computer/office supply chains as
well as many smaller outlets. And of course, it's also sold online.

Front Page is a fully featured program. Unless you are reasonably
experienced with web page design, you may find it to be a little
overwhelming. If you would rather work with a similar program that's easier
to use (and less expensive) post back and ask for suggestions.

Internet Information Services (IIS) is only available with
Windows XP Professional, not Windows XP Home Editiion.

An upgrade to Windows XP Pro will not affect your current programs or files
if you use the following procedure:

1. Purchase a conventional "Retail Upgrade Version" of Windows XP Professional.
2. Uninstall your antivirus program.
3. Perform a backup of your important documents and files to a CD.
4. Disconnect all hardware peripheral devices, except the monitor, keyboard and mouse.
5. While running Windows XP Home, insert the Windows XP Pro CD in the drive and select
the default "Upgrade" setup option. [Do not select "New Installation"]
6. Visit the Windows Update site to download all the critical updates.
7. Defrag the hard drive.
