front page asp error message

Hi everyone
I installed IIS on my WindowsXP
and i put my database and websites in C:\Inetpub\wwwroot
when I try to view my website on frontpage (by pressing F12), it shows
up below msg: "The Database Results component on this page is unable to
display
database content. The page must have a filename ending in '.asp', and
the web must be hosted on a server that supports Active Server Pages."

I think I need to publish it so that I can view ASP files locally.
can anyone please tell me how to publish it? please provide step by
step instruction

Open your web site in FP as http://localhost/yourwebsite open the asp page
and click preview in browser. ASP pages must be served from a server.
