I have just purchased a new copy of Front page 2003. on the front of the
packaging it states that this is an academic edition. Can I still use this I
am situated in the UK.

Yes you can use it legally if you are a student, teacher or teaching instution. I surmise you
had to give some sort of documentation of that when you purchased it but some companies
are not as strick on this as others.

You can still use the product, but note that your license may restrict
use to non-commercial and personal websites - in other words you cannot
use the academic version for commercial purposes. Read the EULA to
check this.
