from missing

I just noticed that the "from" column is blank in all the
latest posts. I presume that MS has done this to reduce the
harvesting of email addresses.

Will this cause any problems for tracking our own posts?

Follow-up will all go to the xp.general group.

Must be something in your newsreader.

I just looked at 10 of them and they all have From: including
the message I'm replying to here.

(Copied from the headers)
From: "Jim Macklin" <p51mustang[threeX12]@xxxhotmail.calm>

I know this works with OE6
put your mouse on any of the column headers:
subect, time, etc
right click, and pick "Column..."

check mark in fron means you have it, blank means you don't.

also...
is there a scroll bar across the bottom?
if yes, try scolling to the right

I have the column, there just aren't any names in the field.
Wondering if MS removed these to stop harvesting addresses.

Using Ctrl+H to find posts doesn't seem to work without the
from field.

It is the data in the "from" field in the menu bar...
such as ; size, subject, attachment, from...the entries in
the from field are missing.
The text body is where you copied "(Copied from the headers)

<p51mustang[threeX12]@xxxhotmail.calm>"

Your column drop-down list probably has the 'from' box unchecked, that's
all.
MS can't change your settings by remote control.

Hi, Jim.

The From column looks normal to me.

Your post shows FROM Jim Macklin, at 7:10 am (I'm in CST) on 2/21/04, just
as I would expect.

I'm running OE6 (6.0.2800.1123).

Why would it? Use the Watch command.

Must be a fault with your OE, they're not blank here......

My 'from' column looks the same as always. Last night I noticed that some of
my replies were missing even though I could see them on the CDO interface. I
unsubscribed and resubscribed. I had to do it twice and close OE before I
resubscribed and then it was all there.

About 20% now are showing a "from" but none in this thread
are. I think I'll try deleting all the local files and
downloading the headers again.

| Jim, must be you because my "from" column looks fine.

No, it is checked and the FROM is in the window, it is just
that all or most all the from fields are empty.

Same version here... some of the posts are now showing
entries in the from field, but not all. Go figure.

I've gotten used to using the ctrl+H keys.

I think I'll have to delete and reload the headers.

Did not work, too busy to worry about it for now.

Thanks for the input.

R-click in the little bar where "subject" is and select "columns". Put a
check where it says "From". That should put it back on the bar.

HTH, JAX

Not blank as far as I'm concerned. The from field for your post says "Jim
Macklin".

Follow-up will all go to the xp.general group.
