from media center to xp pro

Hello!

I have to upgrade my pc wich have Xp media center, to xp pro - so I can use
it with school(something too doo with domain??).

So I'm just wondering, if this is possible or if I can encounter many
problems?
(Yes, I shall backup my files)

It is possible to upgrade, but before you do you should backup important
files on a safe location.
Also, I'd recommend a clean install rather than ugprade just to avoid any
conflicts you may encounter, although everything should be fine with the
upgrade too.

Windows Media Center IS a version of XP Pro.

While it's true that XP Pro will enable you to *join* the domain --
which means it includes Domain Join and Cached Credentials (Credentials
Manager for logons) -- it's not necessary if all you need to do is
*access* network resources on that domain. In other words, chances are
you can keep XP Media Center and access your school network just fine.

Once installed you cannot join a domain with Windows Media Center.

Thanks, did not know that. I guess Microsoft doesn't care for the
legal liability possibly involved in certain types of file-sharing.
