from failed reformat to failed setup to IRQL Serious help needed

Okay heres the problem, I was reformating my external HD, changing from
NTFS to FAT 32, and after a few atempts, (dur you need fs:FAT32), I
gave up and just plane formated it. I thought for some reason,
formating unpartitioned space, if i go through setup i can set the file
system though the install windows XP command. I pretty much did
something really stupid and started to do the repair instal of XP,
after i realized this as the setup files where being unloaded, i
restarted my comp. when i got back to XP it was glitchy and slow. So
i restarted to let it finish placeing the setup files. then when it
got to installation I restarted it. when it restarted it wouldnt boot
up due to damaged system files. after searching online on a diffrent
comp. i found some help on how to fix it. I looked here at this

http://groups.google.com/group/micr...m+files+damaged&rnum=4&hl=en#d7ad58080f896378

i followed the directions and got the IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. From
this i cant even access the recovery consol.
Im flat out of ideas on what to do. and i dont have any of my stuff
backed up, since i was reformating my backupdrive so it would be
accessable to macs.

Any ideas on how to fix it without losing my files would be lifesaving
thank you so much

Wow, sounds like your system isn't going to make it. After looking at the
link you provided (if you have the same symptoms) then it looks like you
damaged some system files pretty bad. What happens when you try to do another
Repair Install?

If another repair install doesn't work then you might be looking at a
re-install. But fear not, you can at least save your files.

Go to the Ultimate Boot CD for Windows site: http://www.ubcd4win.com/
Download the software, and follow the instructions to install it and make a
boot CD. From there put the boot CD into your CD drive and let the system
boot the CD. From there you can at least copy all of the files that you've
accrued over the years. You could probably even create a new partition with
UBCD on your C drive to dump all the files to. Then format and reinstall.

Maybe someone else would have a better way of doing things that might not
require a reinstall, but since you followed the instructions given by Doug
Knox, this might be a long shot.
