Hello,

I have windows XP PRO (EN) installed on two HD's, one is
the master (Disk O) and system partition, the other is the
slave (Disk 1)and is set as boot partition. Both disks are
NTFS partitioned. Now i want to remove the slave and put
it in a second PC to function as master/system partion.
But as it is not a system partition yet, when booting, i
get the message that NTDLR is missing.

On both OS i have installed many programs, and both disk
contain many data. So how can i turn the bootpartion into
a system partition (with NTDLR and NTdetect.com and so)
WITHOUT reinstalling XP completely?(since this would cause
me to lose programs, settings and data)

Tx alot

Peter

Hi, Peter. first, back up all data that is important to you. If you
don't, I can tell you that Murphy's Law will come into effect and there
will be Tears Before Bedtime. ;-) At the very least, you'll have to do
a Repair Install on the slave when you've moved it to its new computer.
I'm assuming you've got a second XP license for this, because if you
don't you will need to buy one. If the Repair Install doesn't work,
then you will have to do a format/clean install. Here are links to
information about both types of installs:

Malke
